5 cozy getaways
Cozy getaways
A close friend (it is this one) who is also one of my most loyal readers shared that she was a bit disappointed when she tried to search for “cozy getaways” and the result showed zero hits. To meet this I decided to get on this topic as soon as possible. As always, I am aim to please.
When I think of a cozy getaway I think Autumn or Winter. I think lazy mornings in bed with a cup of coffee, the husband and something to read. I think long walks in beautiful nature, cashmere jumpers and high skies. I think open fire place with a drink in hand, snuggling under a blanket Basically just total, utter relaxation.
So here are five of the hotels I’ve stayed at that fit my version of a what a cozy getaway is. I hope it also fits yours.
TypeO / Ystad, Sweden
This hotel invites you to disconnect from reality for a while, to find a slower pace and just relax. It is located outside Ystad in the countryside and run by super friendly couple Micha and Magnus. When staying here I would suggest you go to the beautiful hiking area called Snogeholm just a short drive away. Since this B&B only has one room it feels like staying at your own, private country retreat It doesn’t more cozy than this.

Les Cabanes de Rensiwez / Houffalize, Belgium
In the Ardennes in Belgium, there is this fantastic cabin hotel that screams cozy. The cute houses are scattered along a mountain ridge, standing on stilts, towering over the mountain side. And the inside looks like it could have been designed by Hobbits. Of course there is a fireplace so you can really cozy on up and come morning, breakfast is delivered to the cabin in a small basket.

The Pig at Combe / Honiton, UK
There is something about the British countryside that just screams cozy getaway. You can picture those long walks over the moor followed by a pint by the fire in a country pub. One place that fits so well into that fantasy is the Pig at Combe. We stayed in a thatched cottage where we had our own fireplace to sit by after having been out walking all day. A great hotel if you are looking for someplace really cozy.

Hirschen / Schwarzenberg, Austria
This place is one of those warm Austrian mountain hotels where the main building has these low ceilings that has a great effect on the coziness level. There are several corners where you can kick back with a book and something to drink after having spent all day skiing or hiking. And you know what, the food is so great here.

Fjällnäs is located in Härjedalen, close to the Norwegian border. A classic mountain hotel with open fireplace, great food and a classic sauna to relax in.
