London boutique hotel in the heart of Soho with a cozy, snug feel

Dean Street Townhouse / London / UK

I have for the longest time had my eyes on Soho House and their fabulous hotels, but for the longest time it has been a secluded world where I didn’t have any access. Only some of their houses have been open to non-members, until recently when they launched their ”Friends of Soho” membership which gives people like me the possibility to book rooms. And I took the chance to book a stay at this place, Dean Street Townhouse.

The Soho House journey started back in 1995, when founder Nick Jones open the first Soho House on Greek Street, above his restaurant. Since then it has grown into a global phenomenon where more clubs keep opening.

Dean Street Townhouse opened in 2009 and is located in the heart of Soho, right around the corner from the original Soho House. There are 39 bedrooms in this Georgian townhouse dating back to the end of the 18th century.

The design is cosy and sombre with an interior that wouldn’t look out of place at some fancy country estate with velvet sofas, crystal chandeleirs, chunky wooden book shelves and printed wall paper.

Our hotel room had a slanted ceiling, fitted carpets and was painted in a discreet, cream colored tone. I appreciate the vintage touches where there is a classic rotary dial phone and a Robert’s radio that is turned on when you check in. All in all, it gives the room a homely feeling, which made us feel snug.

Welcome to Dean Street Townhouse, right in the beating heart of Soho.

The dark, cozy reception area,

The scent from the candles in the lobby is wonderful.

Heading up to our room.

The style of our room was very traditional. Something that would fit in some fancy country estate.

I love when the radio is on when you first enter the room. Makes it feel like coming home.

Always when staying at Soho House you can expect a well stocked mini bar.

We had dinner up the street, at Soho House 76. Great burgers!

Heading back to our hotel.

Morning with coffee in bed.

Ready for breakfast at Breakfast Club., right around the corner from the hotel, together with my dear friend, Fanny.

I love to eat at Breakfast Club. They have outposts all around London.

This place is perfect if you…

…prefer small boutique hotels when staying in big cities. If you are a fan of a classic country house aesthetic with some modern features incorporated into the mix, you are going to really like staying at Dean Street Townhouse.

My favorite thing about this place…

…is the location. It is hard to beat the location of Dean Street Townhouse. It is smack in the heart of Soho where the beat of the city is always present and everything is within walking distance.

What not to miss when staying here…

…is, well this is London. There is so much to do and see. One of my favorite things to do is to stroll along Regent’s Canal together with the locals, with a coffee in hand.
