Quaint and eclectic Belfast hotel, housed in a Victorian building with a bohemian vibe
Harrison Chambers of Distinction / Belfast / Northern Ireland / United Kingdom
Eccentric and quaint, eclectic and quirky. There are many adjectives that are fitting to describe this bohemian bolthole, the Harrison Chambers of Distinction, which is the full name of this boutique hotel.
The hotel is located in Belfast’s Queen Quarter, in the southern parts of town, housed in a row of Victorian buildings dating back to 1879. The hotel is owned by Melanie Harrison and she is also the one who has created the design. She has collected unique pieces over the years which she has used when creating the design. The result is a wonderful mix of looks, colors and patterns.
All the rooms are unique and they are named after different cultural icons that have a connection ot the city. We stayed in the Angela Lansbury room, a large room with printed wallpaper, vintage furniture and windows in two direction making the space bright.
Belfast is an interesting town with a history known to most. This historic conflict is still visible when traveling around town and I can warmly recommend taking a tour to learn more about the Troubles and to visit some of the key sites.
Welcome to the Harrison!
The hotel is housed in this row of Victorian buildings dating back to the 19th century.
As soon as you enter the reception you get a taste of what this hotel is all about. Quirky, colorful and quaint.
Our room designed with vintage pieces and printed wallpaper.
Our room was the Angela Lansbury, named after the famous actress. This desk in our room felt very “Murder she wrote”, the series where Angela played the lead role.
This photo of the original radiator is my favorite photo from our stay at the Harrison.
This piece of art was painted on the wall facing our room. It is a great idea, to have art that belongs to the room, but it is on the outside.
Breakfast is served in the downstair’s restaurant. I love the eclectic mix of vintage china.
We signed up for a tour with one of the classic black cabs to learn about and visit different key sites connected to the Troubles. This is the infamous wall that still exist to separate people from each other.
Both sides have painted murals celebrating heroes that has fought and died for their cause.
A great place for lunch/brunch is the Neigbourhood Café.
We decided to share this Tiramisu French Toast. It was just as delicious as it looks.
I love gastro pubs. A great way to experience classic and somewhat elevated British/Irish cooking. This place is called the Bowery and the burger was so good.

This place is perfect if you…
…are looking for a unique hotel to stay at when visiting Belfast. A hotel with quirky design located in the leafy south part of town.
My favorite thing about this place…
…is the contrasting design where our room, named after actress Angela Lansbury, combined floral wall papper with exposed brick walls covered in grafitti. It is great when design shouldn’t work but it somehow still does.
What not to miss when staying here…
…is to take one of the black cab tours connected to the Troubles. A harrowing reminder of a conflict that has been (and to some extent still is) tearing this small country apart.
