Cozy, eclectic boutique hotel in the old town of Treviso, Italy with a lot of charm
Maison Matilda / Treviso / Veneto / Italy
The North Italian town of Treviso is very close to my heart. We used to live here for work and fell in love with this mini-Venice with its canals, cream colored houses and laid back lifestyle. The Trevisani har famous for liking the sweet life. It is also the birth place of my favorite dessert, the Tiramisù. Just another reason to love this place. And in the middle of the old part of town, the is a cute little boutique hotel with a French sounding name, Maison Matilda.
This 6-key hotel is housed in a gently resorted 19th century building on a quiet side street. The design is warm and eclectic. The space is filled with different kind of art work, crystal chandeliers and a lot of color. All the rooms are individually designed. Mine had an Asian touch, with dark painted wooden floors, pink walls and a massive four poster bed.
I am very biased, but Treviso is an incredibly cute town. A maze of narrow streets, canals, old palazzos and great restaurants. It is a town where people are skilled in the art of enjoying life to the full.
Welcome to Treviso and the cozy Maison Matilda.
Checked in and heading up to my room.
I love how the doors to the rooms are almost hidden in the walls.
The room had an Asian touch with the dark wooden floors and the massive four poster bed.
I am always a fan of bold color choices, like this creamy pink in my room.
Exploring the hotel, this a view from the mezzanine of the hotel lounge.
Treviso is often referred to as a mini Venice (the real Venice is only 30 k further south). It is easy to understand why when you walk around in the old part of town.
I love these old streets with its cream colored houses.
Ok, let’s talk about food. I love, love, love pizza. And one of the best I have ever had is at Zero81 which came recommended to us by my friend Marzia.
Like in all Italian towns there are several great places for ice cream. This is from one of my favorites, JJ Gelato.
Back at the hotel after dinner…
…getting ready to hit the sack.
Morning has broken
My room had a little balcony with a view of the backyard. Nice to hang out there with a coffee in the morning.

This place is perfect if you…
…like independent boutique hotels with unique, quirky design in a town where you’ll not very likely to encounter that many other tourists. If you like the sound of this, Maison Matilda and Treviso could be worth checking out.
My favorite thing about this place…
…is that this hotel is located one of my favorite places, Treviso
What not to miss when staying here…
…is to eat. There are so many great places around town. If you, like me, are a pizza fan, there is a place called Zero81 where the pizzas are so delicious. It is located in the outskirts of town but well worth the walk.
