Cozy and colorful Paris hotel in the dynamic and residential 18th arrondissement

I know it doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone that I love hotels. And there are several different aspects of hotels (and especially staying in hotels) that make me excited. One of my favorite things is when hotels lead me to new places. The most common thing (at least for me) is that I decide on a destination and then I start to search for a hotel in the area I want to stay in. But what is even better is when I find a hotel that looks great and that hotel makes me experience a new region, area or part of town, which was fully the case with Hotel Dalila in Paris. I thought the hotel looked really interesting and decided to book it, and by staying there I discovered a part of Paris that was totally new to me, which has now become a new favorite.

Hotel Dalia, which opened in 2024, is located in the northern part of the 18th arrondissement, close to the largest flea market in Paris, Marché aux puces de Saint-Ouen, and what is great to learn is that the design has taken inspiration from both the market as well as this eclectic, dynamic area. Giovanna de Bosredon, who is the designer behind the look, has taken her cues from the rustic look of the neighborhood. The three dominating colors in the design are green, red and orange and there are a lot of curious details, like a leopard printed carpet, checkered tiled floors and wooden paneled ceilings.

The rooms of this 49-key hotel are small and functional. My room was on the top floor and it felt very symbolic to live in an attic room with views of the Sacre Coeur and the roof tops of Montmartre. I felt I could channel my inner child of the revolution reliving the story line from the Moulin Rouge movie.

The lobby area with is pretty iconic with the checkered floors, wooden paneled ceilings and bright red chairs.

Heading upstairs to my room in the smallest elevator I have ever seen.

I love this leopard printed fitted carpet.

The room had a forest green carpet with matching furniture.

Breakfast is served in the lobby/lounge area.

The area where the hotel is located, in the northern part of the 18th arrondissement is so cozy. I loved strolling around looking at buildings and people, avoiding the worst throngs of tourists.

I love that there are still vineyards dotted around the hills of Montmartre. Crazy to come across this in the middle of Paris.

This place is perfect if you…

…want to stay in cute boutique hotel in a part of Paris that is a little off the beaten track but still very central. If you like to discover an area that is less ridden with other tourists where you can mingle with the locals, you will love staying at the Dalila.

…is the playful look in the design, with bold color choices and combinations.

What not to miss when staying here…

…is to explore the area 18th arrondissement. It is a residential neighborhood where you’ll find a lot of great bakeries, cafés and bars. I found one café which I really liked, Two Doors Coffee Shop. It is located a short stroll from the hotel, in the direction of Montmartre.
