Sometimes you just want to stay right in the middle of the action, where you have all the highlights of a city within crawling distance. When we decided to go to Dublin, this was exactly what we were looking for. And this is why decided to book rooms at the Hoxton Dublin. It almost doesn’t get more central than this in the Irish capital.

The Hoxton Dublin is housed in a Victorian red brick building. This used to be the Central Hotel with its famous bolt hole, the Library Bar where locals have been sharing a pint or two for decades. After the closure of the hotel (and maybe more importantly, the bar) Dubliners kept a close look at what was happening with this building during the refurbishment, curious (and maybe a little worried) to see what the result would be. Based on the mix of locals and visitors hanging out in the 2.0 version of the Library Bar, it seems that the worry has subsided and they have taken this new bolt hole to heart.

This 129-key hotel has that atypical Hoxton vibe that has become their trademark. The vibe is made up of the colorful, unique design but also the people that frequent these hotels. The Hoxton design is a rich mix of colors and patterns, a lot of bespoke art work and a twist that few other hoteliers would dare to go for. I think this is the reason behind their success story and why this chain keeps on expanding and finding new fans.

The main three colors used in the design are rust, moss green and navy. A unique mix of colors that makes for a rich feel. In our room there is that classic Hoxton upholstered headboard that can be seen at all Hoxton hotels.

Dublin is such a vibrant place and I love how this energy is brought Into the hotel.

The hotel is located right in them center of the Irish capital.

When you enter the hotel, the first space you pass is the coffee bar.

The lobby/reception area is filled with colorful furniture and art work. A warm, welcoming space.

A perfect food-and-drink day in Dublin. Start with breakfast at Brew Lab…

…and maybe something sweet to top things off?

For lunch try the excellent Korean fried chicken at Chimac.

Stop by for an afternoon coffee at Kaph, just around the corner from the hotel.

When the clock strikes wine o’clock, there’s a great little wine and cheese place called Loose Canon, located a short walk from the hotel.

And for dinner I can highly recommend Hang Dai. Delicious Chinese food. We ate our own body weights.

But there was still space for a couple of scoops of ice cream from Irish favorite Murphy’s on our way back to the hotel.

…are going to the Irish capital and you want to stay at a buzzing hotel, right in the middle of the action. A hotel with colorful design where locals and visitors mix. If this sounds good to you, you should check out the Hoxton.

My favorite thing about this place…

…is how, even though the hotel opened in 2025 they have designed it so it feels older. The way some vintage items are brought into the design gives the hotel a more interesting look, giving it ,more depth.

What not to miss when staying here…

…is really difficult to say. There is just so much going on in Dublin. If I would highlight one place for coffee (and cakes) I would suggets Brew Lab, a 10 min walk from the hotel. When it comes to drinks, my suggestion is Loose Cannon, just around the corner from the hotel, which is a small wine-and-cheese bar. And finally, food, we found this great Chinese place called Hang Dai, about 15 min walk from the hotel. Superb Chinese food!
